Oct 17 IPO trial in Hauhovi: Judge: Heikki Hiltunen, helper: Tuukka Nikola
Kasi: 78 / 77 / 90 IP1
Teppo: 83 / 87 / 88 IP1
Teppo made his present level of training in phases B and C but not in phase A
Kasi worked under his present level of training in every phase (A,B and C)

Sept FCI IPO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN HÄMEENLINNA, FINLAND
16.-19. Venke and Inga (& dogs) from Sweden stayed with us the whole week and
we had a great time!

Week 51 It has been freezing outside the whole week. The weather is beautiful but cold,
2009 too cold for me.
I have had time to read books (and eat chocolate…). I have red “The Joy Luck Club”
by Amy Tan. It is a life history of three Chinese women who escape the war to America.
It also deals with their daughters, cultural differences and generation gap.
At the moment I am reading “Desert Flower” by Waris Dirie. This is my first book in englsih.
Of course there are many unfamiliar words but that does not matter. It is easy to follow the story.
Desert Flower is a true story of Waris Dirie´s extraordinary life. She was a desert nomad who
escaped from Somalia at the age of 13. Waris lived in England and by the time she became a top model
and UN special Ambasador.
I wish I had a better camera...

7.-8.11. IPO/Mondioring training camp in Hauhovi, organized by kennels
Kutinan, Suhteellisen and Tulikuuma.
Bite trainings with Teppo and Kasi, trainer/helper was Tuukka.
27.10. Horses....
I was at horse stable with the boys.
17.-24.10. Steve and Joël 8 days in Finland
Joël trained as a helper student last summer in Tuukka´s seminar in Holland.
Now he came to Finland to learn more. He had his young malinois male,
Lukay van de Annahenhof, with him. Since the seminar Lukay had been on a break
from bitework.
Every afternoon I picked them up from Kiljava and we went to the training field
to train obedience together. With Kasi we worked retrieve over the hurdle, thank you
for your help and advise.
On Saturday 17.10. it was very cold and rainy day,so we had an opportunity to train
in Silveri´s hall.
From Sunday to Wednesday we had our trainings in Tuusula.
Taija had organized dogs for Joël to work with.
On Thursday we had an opportunity to see Hannu´s bite trainings and on
Friday bite trainings of Hannu´s and Marko´s group.
On Saturday 24.10. we drove to Lahti to see a Schutzhund trial for GS. After the trial
Marko advised Joël with jumps.
On Sunday morning at 3.30 I drove Steve and Joël to the airport.
It was time to say goodbye for a while. I hope to see you soon!
16.10. This evening we will pick Steve and Joël up from the airport (+one malinois).
They will train helper work and obedience with Tuukka. I will be their chauffeur :-)
20.9. Teppo´s bitework started after a short break.
3.-6.9. Schuzhund Finnish Championship for German Shepherds in Imatra.
It was an exciting competition from the beginning to the end.
August Teppo has a short break from bite work after Holland but Kasi continues training.
1.-9.8. Tuukka´s seminar in Holland
On 31st July we flew to Düsseldorf for one night.
We spent the day walking beside The Rhine with the dogs.
José and Jack picked us up at the hotel and we drove to the airport to meet Tuukka
and his dogs Keijo & Niilo. It was a three hour drive to Hoogkerk (Holland) .
Training days were long, only a few breaks.during the 10-hour day.
Daily schedule was as follows:
theory – obedience – bite work – helper students - tracking
As training dogs for helper students were Kasi, Jaap & Petra Verheij´s German Shepherd
Diezel vom haus Beltsum, a French Dobermann and Minna Yrjänä´s x-malinois.
Handlers learned to build and use “new tools” and during those 9 days
it was great to see their progress in every section.
Tuukka explained how he has built obedience piece by piece and how it should
look when it is ready. Niilo gave a demonstration of his skills.
We had one night off and we visited the seaside town Harlingen.
We saw beautiful scenery…and cows,sheeps and horses everywhere.

For our own dogs the trip was a good experience. Teppo was little stressed
during the flight but Kasi was “cool” in every situation.
Tracking fields were excellent and I made many tracks to Teppo.
With Kasi I made only one track.
A Big Thanks to Stienstra family for accommodation and
giving us cars for use and all the care!

4.7. Kasi was in Tuusula Dog Show: judge Christian Karcher, France : CERT, BOB
grandfather Johan Pelsma arrived to Finland with the intention to train
dogs and expand the knowledge of dog training.
